PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has built 64,000 solar panels in an area of 28.2 hectares in the housing complex of workers in Rumbai, Duri and Dumai. The construction was carried out in collaboration with PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, a Pertamina subholding company in the field of new and renewable energy.
PHR Corporate Secretary Rudi Arifianto stated that the production capacity to be produced by the solar panels is 25 MWp with a potential annual efficiency of US$ 4.3 million or the equivalent of IDR 65.79 billion.
The solar panels will generate energy of 32.42 GWh per year which is still under construction and planned to be operational this year. The PHR solar panel project will reduce CO2 emissions by 23,000 tons per year and carbon tax by US$ 48,261 per year in accordance with the target set by the Paris Agreement.
The location and geographic conditions of Rokan WK have a high photovoltaic power output potential for the installation of solar panels which is an environmentally friendly source of electricity. PHR supports the government targets of 23% for new and renewable energy in 2025 and net-zero emissions in 2060 with a medium-term target of 29%-41% by 2030.
